Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj perform at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards

On August 28th, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj reunited for their latest fiery collaboration at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

The power duo steamed up Madison Square Garden in New York City with a work-out themed first-ever run through their Dangerous Woman collab “Side to Side.” Introducing the performance, Chance the Rapper called out the duo’s strong New York bond, reminding the crowd that “one of them got their start on Broadway,” while “the other is straight out of Jamiaca Queens.”

As the track’s title “Side to Side” illuminated across the stage screens, Grande — sporting an all white two piece number and visor — kicked off the performance atop an exercise bike, as her and her dancers jived an impressive dance number using the handle bars as leverage. Descending the stage in a kimono, Grande sashayed to jump on a balancing beam, as male dancers lifted weights around her. A blonde Minaj then appeared — also flanked by nearly nude muscle dancers with barbels — as she joined Grande center stage for the tune’s powerful finale.

Ariana Grande to perform at the 2014 MTV VMAs

You prayed for it, you tweeted it, you basically manifested it. And now it’s happening: Ariana Grande will return to the VMAs with a live performance of her brand-new single, “Break Free.”

If you watched Ariana’s “Total Ariana Live” “TRL” 2.0 special like the good fan that you are, then you were amongst the first Arianators in the world to hear her new single, “Break Free.” It’s just a taste of what’s to come when she performs the single live for the first time ever at the 2014 VMAs, August 24 at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Ariana’s been teasing the Zedd collaboration on Twitter for almost two weeks, so a full dose of summer anthem has been a long time coming for her fans.

And in case you missed this crucial piece of Ariana news because you’re too busy memorizing “Break Free,” Ariana also announced that her sophomore album, My Everything, which was slated for release on August 25th, will actually be available for purchase immediately following the VMAs on August 24th -— a whole day early.

Although Ariana sang a pre-performance medley last year, this will be her first time gracing the VMA mainstage. But given her ability to flawlessly belt out Mariah-worthy whistle tones, it seems unlikely that the VMAs will be a problem for Ariana.
