On March 30th, Ariana was interviewed on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw to talk about Dangerous Woman, and talk with fans on the radio!
The modest star admitted she never thought she “slayed” at singing and feels her career is still in its early stages.
“I think it was one time I was singing in sync in the car with my mom. I was really young… it was something where Jay Z had a high riff at the end and my mom was like, ‘hold on’ and she rewound it and was like ‘hold on can you do that again?'”
“And I was like ‘yeah sure’ and my mum was like well you have a really good voice,” the singer revealed. She recalled how growing up in a musical family helped to nurture her talent at an early age, but also prevented her from thinking she was anything special.
“When I was little, I don’t think I ever had that thought ‘I slay at singing’ but I think my mom, she is like a CEO and does her own thing, but she encouraged us to sing and she loves music,” she shared.
“My dad will always sing karaoke and my brother (Frankie) was into musical theatre and I’ve always been surrounded by music, so I didn’t think it was weird to be a singer or sing,” she added.
“There’s a little bit of pressure but I feel like the single is a song that I love so much and am so proud of it, so that’s the most rewarding thing. I’m glad my fans are loving it but that’s just the best feeling.”
